The Indiana Jewish Historical Society is a privately funded not-for-profit organization. The society hosts an annual meeting each October in Indianapolis and spring meetings hosted in various communities around the state. The IJHS publishes a quarterly newsletter The Historical News and the annual journal Indiana Jewish History.
Our success depends on the support of our membership and donations to our endowment fund. Please consider making a contribution to support our mission "To collect, preserve, publish and promote on the Jewish experience in Indiana."
The IJHS is open to anyone and no requirements are made of members other than that they pay their annual dues. Members may be of any faith and the same applies for the Board of Directors and our Executive Board.
Currently we have seven membership categories: Honorary Board Members, a tribute to those who have achieved national or international recognition in their work or particular field (a free membership as so moved by the majority of the Board of Directors); Patron Member; Organization Member; Sustaining Member, Basic Dues, Student Membership, and Honorary Membership.

An Endowment was established in January 2002 to sustain the IJHS. Our success weighs on your support. Interest may be used for operating expenses; the principal can only be used for major expenditures that are approved by a majority of the Board of Trustees. We continually encourage further donations to this account.
Our Executive Director, Eileen Baitcher, is a paid professional and manages our organization from an office in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Our Board of Directors consists of 23 members, including 18 seats from around the state serving three-year terms (representing their communities), and five past presidents with life terms. IJHS members vote to elect each Board member. The Board of Directors annually appoints our Executive Board, which consists of the President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer.
